Bedroom Remodel

We got the log off the beach (quite a job) and Scott notched out a perfect space for the TV.

This was one large closet. Scott framed in one for each of us and we put in organizers. No dressers!

Electronics galore (Scott set up the TV, computer, DVD player & Roomba)

Top down, bottom up blinds (so we get privacy but can still see our view)

Well we finally finished (ALMOST) our bedroom! We took it from painted black beams and dark wood paneled walls to a fresh, airy sanctuary. We're so proud of what we've accomplished seeing as neither of us have dry-walled, framed, etc. before. Can't wait to start on the next project!

Oh Obama

A little blurry, but what do you expect after a few glasses of champagne?

I still haven't come down off my high from yesterday and I don't plan to. Yesterday was a historic day for so many reasons and I feel very proud. After a day of watching the Inauguration I went with my neighbors to our Island County Democratic Party...the place was PACKED. Full of hundreds of smiling, laughing faces, dancers, singers, wine drinkers and food eaters. We were one happy crowd who all felt the same joy, hope and promise of a man to not only do good himself, but to encourage others to do so as well. That's what a leader is all about isn't it?

Veggies

I just bought seeds for all of these veggies

I ordered all of my seeds for this year a few days ago and am so excited! I've decided to expand my growing area and build another raised bed at about 3' x 12' to plant all of my trailing plants and potatoes so they won't take up space in my 10' x 10' space. I need to put it off the ground so the little bunnies can't get to it. I have a 4' high fence around my other area and it worked perfectly last year-no evidence of those lil' critters. Right now I'm waiting for a break in the rain so I can work on the new planting area! Eek! So excited! I'll post some photos when I get the new area finished.

Winter Wonderland

A few days before Christmas I took a long walk on the beach and around Bush Pointe to take photos of my beautiful surroundings. The snow was about a foot deep and the sun came out for just a bit.

Bush Pointe Lighthouse

I've never seen snow at the beach

Frumpy Chub

Ugh...you know those days (or weeks and months) that you look and feel like a bloated, tacky, turd? Well that's how I've been feeling lately. I really love this time of year...coziness, baking, cooking, movies and holidays but I don't love that I always gain weight from not eating as many fresh fruits in veggies that are in season, eating waaay too many cookies and sweets, and not exercising because it's just too cold for me to do so. On top of that I haven't been able to afford to get my hair cut or professionally dyed so it's got a nice Wal-Mart, from the bottle, brassy tinge to the roots which I just hate. Since I work at the farm and do yard work my wardrobe consists of stained, ripped, over-sized, frumpy pieces of work wear. Ugh. I miss looking put together, buying new pieces of stylish clothing and feeling cute. Hopefully I'll earn some more money soon so I can make some changes.

Pods

Each year for Christmas I make cardamom jam pinwheel cookies that I just love. I had run out of cardamom and searched the spice isle for the best prices, which ended up being whole pods which I'd never used before. I had to break open each pod by rupturing the tough, green outer membrane (left plate) giving me teeny little rat turd looking seeds (right plate) that smell like spiced rosemary goodness.
